About Me

Hi, I’m Stella!

Hello friends and fellow book lovers! I live in Scotland and I’m a wife, a mother, a friend and a daughter and constantly striving to be better at all of them. I’m also a total bookworm and read every day. Some days my commitments mean I don’t get as many pages read as I’d like to but I try to always manage a page or three here and there, even on the busiest of days.

A New Beginning

I’ve been running a blog and/or website in one form or another for over 15 years and this one, the one known as The Bookshelf Chronicles, has been on the go since early 2010, in one form or another. I’ve recently embraced WordPress so this is my home now. I curate book recommendations, reading lists, reviews, challenges, lists, news and other book related interests , all in the hope that I can inspire other readers like myself and help them discover new titles across genres. Home décor, reading accessories, book tech (such as e-readers and lighting), and literary-inspired clothing and gifts…it’s all here and if it’s interesting it’ll find a home here too.

Books are usually bought with my own money and sometimes they’re new releases, sometimes they’re not. Sometimes they’re positively prehistoric in terms of release date but that sort of stuff doesn’t register when deciding whether to write about them or not I just do my own thing really and am not too fazed about current book trends (although from time to time I do get FOMO so hyped books can find their way here too, now and then).

Of the remaining books I blog about, many of them are library books.  Some are ARC’s (Advanced Reader Copies), usually received from the publisher and those reviews (if I gave one) have been marked accordingly that they were received from the source. From time to time I may blog about books received as gifts from from friends or family too.

I’ll read pretty much anything, if the mood strikes me (I’m a mood reader) but my usual go-to genre is Apocalyptic, End of the World stories. I don’t really mind if the world ends by Zombie, Nuclear, Plague, Aliens, EMP… I’m not fussy, I only care that the world does actually end. Before, during or after – it’s all good. I also don’t mind the format, be it paper, e-book or audio, I’ve got lots of books in all three types, but mostly I listen on Audible as that’s my preferrence if given a choice. I’ve had a membership there for several years and have managed to amass quite a collection. Mostly ‘unread’ because buying/collecting books and actually reading books are two seperate hobbies 😀 I need to build up a supply though becasue when the end of the world finally comes, I plan to spend it reading.

If you stumble across me and would like to leave a comment on one of my posts that’s fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to let me know you’ve visited. If you’re a lurker or a fly-by-night visitor, that’s ok too 🙂

Let’s dive into stories together—getting lost in different worlds, feeling all the emotions, and enjoying the simple magic of a good book. Along the way, we’ll find stories that make us think, spark great conversations, and remind us just how powerful words can be.

If you love reading as much as I do, you know there’s always something new waiting to be discovered. So let’s explore, share, and enjoy the journey—because a great story can stay with us long after the last page.

Stella
